On the work of the Committee of "The Codex Alimentarius " Commission on Food Hygiene

On November 13 in Boston (USA), the 47th meeting of the Committee of "The Codex Alimentarius " Commission (CAC) on Food Hygiene (CCFH) was held.

CCFH was attended by over 200 delegates from 75 countries, international governmental, scientific and public organizations.

The Russian Federation was represented by the interdepartmental delegation headed by the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing.

During the meeting, the main attention of delegates was paid to the draft of the Guidelines for the control of Salmonella spp in beef and pork, and the Code of Practice for products with a low moisture content.

The position of the Russian Federation on the need to increase the temperature of water during heat treatment of meat was taken into consideration by the meeting and was reflected in the final report of the 47th session of CCFH.

The further development of these instruments will take place in electronic working groups of the Committee, participation in which will allow the Russian Federation to implement the most effective scientific developments of the Russian scientists, aimed at ensuring the hygienic safety of food entering the Russian market of food products.

During the year, the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing in implementation of the instruction of the Government of the Russian Federation has been active in cooperation with " The Codex Alimentarius " Commission. Rospotrebnadzor not only took part in all the meetings of the Commission, in accordance with its competence, but also as the lead agency coordinated the cooperation work of interested federal executive bodies, scientific community and business representatives with CAC.

Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing will continue to work on cooperation with " The Codex Alimentarius " Commission in 2016.
